Generally, one 5050 LED chip consumes about 0.24W of power. Therefore, you can easily calculate or estimate the power of the whole strip by multiplying 0.24W by the total LEDs on the strip. 

For example, if we assume we have 100 5050 LEDs over a length of one meter, the total power consumption is 24W/m. Simply put, every meter of that particular strip light will consume at least 24W. 

But since power consumption depends on factors like brightness level, you can adjust them to reduce your power costs. Fortunately, most 5050 LED strip lights are highly energy efficient and won’t consume much power.

However, most manufacturers limit connecting 5050 strip lights to 3-5 meters. And if you exceed this limit, expect a voltage drop or reduction in performance. 

Is the 5050 LED strip light waterproof? 

Surprisingly, we have both waterproof and non-waterproof 5050 LED strip lights. 

The non-waterproof 5050 LED lights don’t have the mechanisms or coating to withstand moisture, and we mainly use them indoors. 

On the other hand, the waterproof 5050 LED lights common in outdoor settings have a coating like silicone to withstand dust, moisture, or other harsh environmental conditions. 

Is the 5050 strip light brighter than the 5630? 

The 5630 LED lights have larger LED chips than the 5050-LED strip light. Therefore, they illuminate brighter than the 5050 LED lights. 

However, the 5050 light is still brighter enough to support indoor and outdoor commercial and residential lighting. And if you want more brightness, increase the strip length.
